Alfa Specialists In Cork?

Does anyone know of any Alfa specialists in Cork? I think I have a problem with the clutch slave cylinder on my Spider. The car is immobile at the moment. The clutch falls to the floor and will engage a gear. I can't even start it in gear. I noticed some fluid on the ground coming from the front passenger side in line with the wheel.

I think that there is a dealer in Bandon. Old Chapel motors, they do fiat and others also.

City based and will have to get it towed so Bandon is out. They are/were main dealers so it wouldn't be financially advantageous for me.

Alfa Romeo main dealers are generally poor with regards to servicing, maintenance and after sales.

Which is why op asked for an Alfa specialist! Jebus Bazz.

I was actually responding to MTracey's post about suggesting the dealer in Bandon.

Would need an Alfa specialist do do a slave cylinder change? I think most mechanics should be able to manage that. There is a garage in Ballycureen, Ardfallen, not Alfa specialists but should see you right.
(It's not a blue spider is it?)

I'd prefer someone who knows what they are doing than some greasemonkey. I took an Audi to get serviced a while back and gave them the parts only to be told that the parts were 'wrong'. Turned out the new parts had been modified to rectify a common fault but they didn't cop because 'the part didn't look right'.

BTW r.r did you happen to witness my misfortune?

I helped you push it into the driveway!!! :D

I've a set of axle stands & should be able to put it in for you if you're stuck. Done it a few times on BMs.

    FFS:rolleyes: :D

Cheers for that BTW. I initially thought that the clutch was entirely kaput but hopefully it's just the slave.

Well if you want me to have a look I'll give it a go I do all my own maintenance, did the water pump & thermostat on the driveway a few weeks ago in the 3 series.
I really only know the BMW specialists, there is a good BMW mechanic down by Pairc Ui Chaoimh Stephen Murphy (MurphyMotorWorks), he is a good guy that originally worked with Kevin O'Learys. He should be able to sort you. BMWs is his forte but I know he will tackle anything.

From my limited research it would appear that the slave has gone/loss of clutch fluid. The slave cylinder is fairly cheap but the fitting/labour is a bit intensive. I'd love to be able sort this out without getting my pants pulled down.

I took a spin down around PuC today but didn't see his garage. Where about is it?

If you were parked outside the CAB Ford garage entrance (with garage on your left PuC on right) then head straight along this road passing the right turn (not turning)
His premises is down a short lane next to one of the industrial estates on the right hand side just beyond the Mainport office. It's a yellow wall if that helps. The lane will be full of all sorts of BMWs. He calls his business MMW - Murphy Motor Works, his name is Stephen Murphy. As I said he specialises in BMWs but I think he should be able to sort you too.
021 4322122 is a contact number for them.

Stephen has recently hired a guy called Liam who has about 10 year's experience with BMW, and came 3rd in the country in the Technician's competition!

.......able to manage that. There is a garage in Ballycureen, not Alfa specialists but should.......

used these guys once for my 325i. I gave them a list of about half a dozen concerns and I don't mean tittle-tattle. Mostly serious suspension/ running issues and I left their garage virtually no better off or better informed. Having paid a couple of hundred euro lighter, I was still in the dark. All issues turned out to be patently obvious to the next guy I used, it was like they didn't even try....

I was wondering where Liam went!

On the Ballycurreen guys I think they have taken on more than they can manage, they do all the AA, RAC, Hibernian Breakdown Assist in adition to everything else. The two brothers definitely know their stuff but they are probably too busy.

Stephen sorted me, cheers. Only problem was getting a window, they're flat out inside there.

    Running like a dream,...for the moment.:o
