Im looking to get a custom made electro ecoustic guitar made... Is there anywhere in Dublin I can get this done?

My baby Taylor broke last night... entire head cracked off after a fall. I cried. But Ive wanted to get an electro acoustic for about a year, so in a way it was the push I needed.

    Cheers for the help

    Grace ;)

I know there's a luthier chap in Marlay Park, but I've had no past experiences with him.

There are a few lads around the country, but I imagine as with most skilled craftsmen, they're gonna cost a fair bit.

I doubt you would get a decent guitar made for €1000. €2000 is more like it.
Why don't you go for a nice Martin. They do one for around €900 and you could then have a good bug fitted.
People seem to rate the Takamine Guitars for plugging in.

Or if you want something a little cheaper how about a Seagull or Simon & Patrick. I have a S&P which has a Fishman which is lovely although it was one of the first they made so I don't know how they fair these days, mines coming up for ten years old and still gigging.

Go to Music Maker on Exchequer st. during the week sometime ( not on a weekend )

Up on the first floor in a room off the keyboard section is the acoustic room with a VERY knowledgable guy working there. he's an older guy and he know's his sh!t. Have a chat with him about what you're looking for in terms of sound and I'm sure he'll be able to help you out. :)

btw, you won't get a custom made guitar for €1000 but you can sure as hell get a nice production AE for that money.

Steer clear of Tesco's...*cough* I mean Waltons... :D

Personally for that budget I would pick up a Martin D-15 from thomann and a Fishman Matrix Natural pickup as well. Get the pickup installed and you have a very nice electro acoustic

The Yamaha electro-acoustics punch well above their weight price wise, plus most of the new ones come with a dual system with a pickup and a gooseneck mic.
