I've done a search for Sean Duffs on the board and find very few references to them. Personally I've found the guys in Santry to be very helpful and up front, though I guess their range of goods falls short of the larger stores. They're local so I'd like to use them for servicing etc. How are they viewed on here?

Never heard of 'em. (I lived out that way for a couple years BTW)

    That's the shop in Omni?

I've used them a few times for small repairs and services, never had any problem with them.

Brings me back to the days when all the cool kids rode those black&white Townsends and when cantilever brakes were the height of fashion :)

Sean Duffs... think my very first bike came from there...

The original Sean Duff shop was in Ballybough near the North Circular Road. For decades, he had a great reputation for keen prices. He was a main Raleigh dealer at a time when Raleigh was the 'Sony' of bicycles.

Sounds about right. I was in there yesterday and they have the new Giant CSR and Trek 7.0 for cheaper than cycle super store. Mind you I'll still probably end up buying the Lapierre RCR100 out there cos it's the ccheapest decent Hybrid I can find

I got my Al Carter Hotrock in the Ballybough shop way back. Now that was a bike with snazzy paint work. I loved it. Still have the frame in the folks shed I think.

First bike I paid for with my own hard-earned was a Carlton Corsa 5-speed racer lookalike from Sean Duffs on NCR, in 1975. I´d no idea they were still in business. If they are, it´s ´cos they´re still doing things right.

Every bike I've owned since being a kid has been bought in Duffs.
I find them great! Staff are great, really helpful!

couldn't fault them at all. Went in to buy a racer a few weeks back and they were very patient with me constantly changing my mind. ha!

they were able to make sure i was positioned right on the bike and were able to find my perfect bike.

Got cycling gear from them and have had a couple of bike repairs in Duffs in Santry before. Have to agree sound lads and they know their stuff.

Just out of curiosity: does anyone else recall a Ballybough bike shop called "Charlies"? It was on Ballybough Road right next to the railway bridge. I have very fond memories of it having bought all my bikes there during my teenage years. Indeed the last purchase made there - a Raleigh Eclipse - is still part of my fleet of bikes, albeit it's now a single speed.

Is it not called Duff Cycles now? If so I've bought two bikes from them in recent years, both Giant, gave me a great price on a trade in too. Everytime I've been there they've had a great selection of Giant bikes in stock.. Also the store in Omni were more than happy to let me test a bike in the car park. I'd recommend them anyway ;)

I got a Raleigh Sportsman there in the early seventies - lovely old bike. Would love to have it now.

I bought my first ever mountain bike out of my confirmation money from Duff's in Ballybough.

Went to school around the corner from the shop and was eyeing this particular bike for months.

    Those were the days:)

Find them very pricey, would go in for a look but not buy.
