What is the best way to send/receive money internationally for a series of transactions for personal, not commercial purposes? Western Union? Paypal? Another method?

If it's within the euro zone, bank transfer is by far the cheapest.

This would be predominantly from outside the eurozone. I am talking about cash being sent from Britain and the US to Ireland.

The easiest way would probably be Western Union, they have offices everywhere so should be handy enough. Can be costly enough though.

Depends on how much it is. I do not like paypal or their policies but still use them. Total convenience. I often make offers to ebay sellers who do not accept paypal, many want you to do bank transfers or some other online method for transferring money.

I offer to pay the 4% that paypal would take from them, usually works out cheaper. Say the item is €100, that is €4 extra. Now how much are you paid per hour? and how long does it take phoning banks, or registering with new paypal type websites, then waiting for it to go through, sending emails etc. And there is usually some charge involved, even if it was free with the other method but took 30mins you would be better on paypal, at minimum wage rates.

With paypal the money is there in a few minutes, they can send immediately.
