MBP compatible drives?

    Hey,

I'm thinking of upgrading my MBP HD. Its a 2.33ghz 15" MBP with 160gig HD. I currently have a WD Mybook Pro with complete (Bootable) HD backup on there. So if i were to get a new HD couldn't i just swap it in and boot from my External HD and "restore" it to the new HD?

Second part of my question is what HD's would be compatible. I know MBP's can be had with 250gig but they are 4500rpm. I would ideally not like to go any slower than 5400rpm thats currently in there.

(440hz....now's your chance to respond!!!!:) )

i put one of these in my macbook - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=336007

must of got a dud, see my thread in the mac forum.

i then put on of these in - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-145-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=896
    and worked a charm.

i assume these will work in a macbook pro. and both these drives are 5400rpm.

    Cheers Cremo,

in your thread you said you were going to keep your old one for your PS3. Is this the same size drive for a PS3? I have one and wouldn't mind doing just that.

Or my bro has an old Powerbook G4 with 80gig drive. COuld give it to him i suppose.

the ps3 uses 2.5" sata drives which are indeed the ones that fit into the macbook (pro).

what i'm going to do - once i RMA my samsung drive - is use the hitachi that was in the apple in the ps3 (when i get one), use the samsung 250gig as a external drive using an enclosure and the western digital is staying in my macbook.

and 440hz you're a girl , never would of guessed ;)

A girl who can use a computer and has a sense of sarcasm/humour. I'm really not comfortable with this.

By the way am i right about being able to restore my data to the new Drive? I used Super Duper to backup and made a bootable version of my current system folders and Data. Should it be possible to "restore" that backup to a new drive?
