Life has a funny way of ****ing you over just as things seemed to be going very well. Sometimes it just seems like no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try and no matter how much of yourself you put in to something that it all just gets thrown back in your face.
After a while it all gets very, very tedious and you lose all hope. It seems like you just want to walk away from the dream. For the past two years myself and Gary have been working on this band. We have been experimenting with different sounds and different set-ups. Almost a year ago it seemed that we had hit the jackpot, we found a sound, we found a line-up and we went hell for leather into writing the album together.
    Everything was going absolutely great.
Have you ever been in a band with someone who is not half as dedicated or enthusiastic as the rest of the band? Well we were, time and time again we would be let down by this member until finally it all got too much and we had to part ways. This was almost 2 months ago now.
Last night I go a call from the drummer who was playing with us, he left the band last night. There is no bad feeling or anything. Liam is a great guy and an amazing drummer, he just has his own **** he needs to sort out. It was an absolute privilege playing with Liam, we created some truly amazing music.
Its just one more kick in the face just as it seems things are on the up.
I want to give up now. this has just been the final straw.

Before we give up on the dream totally I want to give it one more shot. Just one more, so this is a call to any drummers or bassists out there who want to give music a serious shot. We are a progressive rock band along the lines of Tool, APC, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin.
    We are based in Dublin.

As I said this is a call for any SERIOUS musicians out there who really want to do something with their chosen art.

    Thanks for reading,

    Alan

Savman, I dont know if youve ever been in a position where you have been able to actually see a dream of yours coming through......where you have been playing with a group of musicians that just gelled perfectly together? Believe me we have been through some amount of **** to get the band to where it was/is currently at and now it all just seems to be crumbling down!
We put every ****ing ounce of ourselves into it. Comprimised work, family, time money and a **** load of blood, weat and tears to get to the stage we are at. purely because we knew that what we have written, and are still writing was worth it, now at this stage after two years of hard slog it all just seems to be in vein. This is a last ditch effort to save something great. To be honest in past 5 years or so my faith in the music industry here has been depreciating greatly due to the lack of bands actually willing to put the work in to be a good band and write decent songs. there are very very very few! and if this doesnt work out the faith is gone completly in muscians in this country!

i know you meant well by the comment, but im not sure you iunderstand the situation!

Hey dude, don't get down. A friend of mine is in a band called Babyjenks. They had a really good drummer leave them few years back. Singer thought about jackin it in but struggled on. They boarded a flight to Boston today to record their first album. Don't ever assume you know the fate of any project. If you have the will, then there is a way out there.

    Hey CriticDublin,

I've been that soldier. Sacrificed a lot of things - job ops, realtionships, time, money for the band. Always let down - usually by singers for some reason.

I play bass. I like some of your influences. Have you anything I can take a listen to?

Maybe you need time out from the challenges of "making it"....but dont ever stop the music.

eh man ive felt like that many many times....what always perked me up was reading the biographies of Bono and Lynott....think about Lizzy with their constantly shifting line-up...they still wrote geat music. just think about it as part of the trip, the journey is always the greatest part...most people focus too much on the end goal, and when they finally get there, they regret taking the small sh**ty gigs and the struggle for granted.
