Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Final Table Dilemma

    Im a long time lurker, first post of many i hope.

    final table of 5$ buy in tournament, 6 left out of 464, i am 5th in chips. 6th place has an M of 1. I have an M of about 4.5. The rest have M's of over 10ish. (I know we're shorthanded so M's are different but doesn't really matter for this argument)

    I'm in big blind, small stack goes all-in utg+1. folded around to me (which was surprising as previous few small stacks were knocked out by two big stacks calling and checking it down to eliminate them).

    The difference in prize money is 6th=$228 and 5th is $288.

    I only have to put in another 9200ish pot is 49000ish. So i have 5.3 to 1 pot odds. I hold 8c5h, trash. but according to pokerstove its only 41% against a random hand.

    I haven't figured out how to convert a hand properly from ipoker. I just got this from pokeroffice.apologies if its not so easy to read.

    My question is, is this an easy call to try knock him out at good value or is there an argument for folding to wait for a better spot in which case he would steal the blinds and have an M of 2. Then wait for either the blinds to hit him or wait for myslef to have a decent hand to shove with, since i am also a small stack.

    thanks for any replies:)

    Easy call. What cards you have here are irrelevant. There is way too much in there for you to pass.

    Yeah, call with any 2. This is never a fold.

    What the heck is M?

    M is the amount you pay in ante & blinds in one orbit.

    This is a call with any two if you work out the EV is massively in your favour. Even if you lose the others have FE against a shove from you.

    M = Your Stack Size/(Blinds + Antes).

    Basically it's how many rounds you have left at the table if you didn't played a hand. Harrington has a whole 'M' system for when you should start pushing in tournaments, etc.

    The rest of us just use Stack-to-BB ratio.
