Did you know, that the first person ever to undertake a long distance run in a motorcar (not just a trial run around the yard) was indeed a woman?

    ...well there you go

Interesting - I wonder are there any parallels with the fact that they also put monkeys into space prior to ever putting a man there!!

took half a day to drive 106km, didn't have enough petrol to complete the journey and seemingly broke down a lot too. how odd. :D

I'm sure the lack of adequate suspension caused for a bumpy ride...possibly why such a journey might be very arousing for her.

Sabeen Shmit who lapped the Nurburgring in a Transit diesel van faster than Clarkson in his Jag S-Type might disagree. ;)

    Erm, no she didn't.

She was something like 15 seconds slower. Granted it ain't much considering the motor's involved, but the fact still remains, she did not do the lap faster.

A parallel parking triathalon would have been infinitely more entertaining.

Your right, slighltly OT but did she do a quicker lap in the Transit than Clarkson did in the Transit then? I thought I remember she beat him at least once around the ring.

her lap time in the transit was faster then a lot of clarksons lap times in the jag - but his quickest time was just under 10minutes, she was about 10 or 15 seconds off that. Clarkson never did a lap in the Transit.

Ah indeed, I remember it now. Cheers.

She did a lap in the Jag as well and was far quicker than him at her first attempt (I think about forty seconds but not sure about the figures). Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

She did a lap in the Jag and was way faster than Clarkson at her first attempt (think it was by about 40 seconds or so, could be wrong though). Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Yeah she did it in 9 minutes 12 seconds as against his 9 minutes 59 seconds, and that was the first time she had driven the car :)
When she did the run in the transit it was incredible. 130BHP Transit overtaking sports cars and sports bikes was so funny. Can anyone remember what BHP the Jag had?

I have vague memories of that episode and was a bit confused as to whether she beat his lap time or not. I must look out on tv for that episode again. Good viewing.

The Jaguar S-Type was a 2.7 litre V6 twin turbo diesel and it pumped out around 206bhp.
