They were doing a 7 way (!) deal when I was leaving last night. Two of the players couldn't come back for a final table today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,141 ✭✭✭ocallagh

It took 5hrs to go from 11 players to 7 players! The blinds were high and SE was closing. 2 people could not come back the next day and nobody else particularly wanted to! so we did a 7 way deal. We all took 7th and split the rest based on chip counts. It was a very fair deal. First prize was 4900 and we all got roughly 2k each.

The blind structure as predicted was great. It's nearly too good in fact. I would suggest increasing the antes at the end slightly. Try to keep the antes close enough to 10% of the BB, otherwise they don't serve much purpose. Although saying that I think the structure is 99.99%!

Was happy with my play. I had a bad lull mid-way when I dropped below average. With about 22k left and average 40k I made a play with KJ after a raise of 4200 and a call. It took close to 10 minutes for them to fold. It proved crucial because it increased my stack by 40% and 10 minutes later I doubled up with TT v AK. This was the only time in the tournament I was all-in and got called! So had above average now and felt a bit safer. Got to FT with 50k and built it up to 90k after a few steals, including two SB v BB pots which I found interesting but too tired to tell. I hovered between 70k and 90k for the rest of the night not picking up much. The table was playing very tight and I regret not opening up a bit more when 7/8 handed. The standard was very high last night.

just wondering - if one player refused to do a deal - what would have happened???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 808 ✭✭✭S.Emporium

    Hi All,

The Final Report on yesterdays Tournament.

The Final Table began at 3.00am having taken 2 and a half hours to lose 10th and 11th positions. Unfortunately between 3am and 6am the Tournament only managed to lose a further 2 players resulting in a 7 way deal. Firstly the players all take 7th place ( €450 ) and divide the remaining money by the percentage of their chips.

I must apologise to the Players involved in this deal as this is the last thing that should happen in any Tournament. I mentioned a couple of months ago that The S.Emporium was trying to find the almost perfect Structure so that Players could have a Tournament with a lot of play that could be good practice for the Bigger Tournaments such as the W.S.O.P but also finish within the 12 hours.

The change that will be made to the next €200 Tournament will see the 75 ante removed, so the Structure will be as follows :

    25 - 50 30 Min Clock
    50 - 100
    75 - 150
    100 - 200
    150 - 300
    150 - 300 - 25 Ante 40 Min Clock
    200 - 400 - 25
    300 - 600 - 50
    400 - 800 - 50
    500 - 1000 - 100
    600 - 1200 - 100
    800 - 1600 - 200
    1000 - 2000 - 200
    1500 - 3000 - 300
    2000 - 4000 - 300
    3000 - 6000 - 500
    4000 - 8000 - 500

In September we will be holding a Mini Festival which will see the Monthly €200 replaced by a €500 Freezeout. I will post the details of this festival in the next couple of days.

    Alex.

    Great tourney.

Unfortunately my own performance was less than great.

Started eratically, leveled out a bit and started to pick up chips. Then I managed to play some of the worst poker i've ever played when we got to 3 tables and donated my pretty healthy stack around the table. Bad ugly spewy poker.
