1 customs vessel. Thats it 1 customs vessel to cover the entire country. Im sorry but even jamacia has more lol jamacia ffs. Even just for the sake of national pride nothing acquire more.

This government makes us look like the laughing stock of europe. Im sure at the new european anti drugs command center in portugal they are laughing themselves silly at us. So lets see portugal can commit 35 ships and is going to acquire 2 submarines in the future ireland what can you commit?

'The minister of defence of ireland is delighted to announce we can provide 7 ships and get this 1 customs vessel but since most of our ships are away on some international tour(all they seem to do) or crocked we can only commit 3 ships.

This customs vessel however is not any ordinary boat its like superboat and it goes real fast and i mean you just have to see it to believe it its like super. It doesn't have guns or anything but it has a searchlight which can be used to dazzle would be smugglers'

But we seriously are commited to wiping out the scourge of drugs in ireland and europe.'

drugs suppliers and dealers must be cowering in fear. Whats even more funny is some of the quotes of the government ' we are commited to an 8 ship floatilla' like this was a huge number of ships or something its like they are saying 'see how lucky you are but be careful if your not good and don't pay ur taxes we'll reduce it''

the navy never have 8 ships at sea at the one time so what there saying is,nt possible the irish zone is far to big and this justifies the navy,s case that they need more ships, also the navy have two fast ships that would do equal knots as the customs boat these two are the L.E. Ciara and L.E. orla these were purchased from the royal navy several years ago and the rn used them in hong kong harbour for drug interdiction the naval service use them as coastal vessels as they would,nt be suitable for deep sea patrols

I don't think all 8 are at sea at the one time.

I think the recent Cocaine seizure, British drug smugglers trying to bring drugs into the UK through Ireland, shows a potential weak spot. These guys got caught, but how much more of this goes on.

If it is a well used route and the UK starts putting border controls in place to curb the flow, then it could have some serious political consequences.

Correct, Some are Anchored (The Peacocks every night), The OPV's that are left are rotated are either on Patrol, alongside on the Oil Wharf or in the Basin.

As for the Roisin and Niamh and Eithne they tend to stay out longer.

But usually at any one time there are 3 to 4 on patrol.

Only durning naval exercises are they all out at once, apart from the ones on refit or dry dock.

that is the one it does,nt have road runner on her for nothing believe me i,ve seen it move while i was on L.E. Eithne during manuovers with her 3 mile behind the vessel and within 2 mins it was beside us

exactly thats why i said there "NEVER" at sea at the same time there,s always a ship either in for refit or just finished a patrol there could be three ships in the naval basin at anyone time
