London heathrow trains/bus question

I'm landing in London Heathrow on the 14th August (i think). Anyway, I need to get to Telford.

Which is best train or bus? If anyone has done such a trip or to anywhere near by like Birmingham, how long does it take?

I was told that train fares can be quite expensive in the UK.

Is there a major bus/train terminal at the airport?

    Thanks

To be honest there is no easy way from Heathrow to Telford that I know of.

There is a train station in Heathrow, but the trains only serve towards central London from there. There is a large bus/coach station though.

Your looking at either a bus to Reading, a train to Birmingham, a change of train and a train to Telford (at least 3.5 hours with all going well)

    OR

A coach from Heathrow bus station to Birmingham, and another coach to Telford (at least 4.5 - 5 hours including at break in Birmingham).

TBH you would be much better flying to Birmingham International, from there Telford is about 1h-1h15 by train and would cost £12 return.

From Heathrow it will cost £49 return by train (including coach Airport-Reading)

You could get it down to around £24 by buying an Advance internet fare for Reading-Telford (around £11 each way) and purchasing the coach ticket seperately at heathrow (£21 return) but you would need to leave yourself loads of time as the AP rail tickets are only valid on the train booked.

By coach it is not much cheaper at £41 return and there are only 2 services a day.

There are regular coach serices from Heathrow to Wolverhampton and frequent local buses from there to Telford, not reccommended though.

    Cheers guys.
The problem is, I'm flying back from New Zealand and my stop is London Heathrow. I have cancelled my connection flight to Dublin because I'm working just outside of Telford for the week.
My flights back to Dublin are from Birmingham.
Looks like it is gonna be a bit of a pain in the ass to get to Telford :(

Might be easier to hire a car in Heathrow and see if I can drop it in Birmingham airport.

Probably would be easier, most of the big hire companies will allow you to drop it off at another office if you arrange it with them.
