Poly or Nitrocellulose

I am considering buying a new Les Paul guitar.

I am not sure of the difference between a poly finish and Nitrocellulose or laquer finish.

I have heard these can affect the overall sounds of the axe.
    They also vary in price!!

    Darren.

You won't hear a difference in the sound.

Depends on if you want that "dipped in glass" look (Poly), or a satin finish (Nitro). Nitro is harder to apply - therefore more expensive.

Nitro is easy to scratch and harder to care for. Purists believe it sounds better.
FWIW you can get satin finish poly.
