Route 66 Chicago 9000 questions

    Hi guys,

Just received this gps a few days ago and so far am pretty happy with it. The maps seem very detailed and I have been out Connemara way where it seems to have all of the little side roads in place. It recalculates real fast and issues clear instructions. Display is fantastic too.

I'm having problems with the charging though. The LED never goes green (indicating full charge) and even when I left it charging overnight the onscreen power pips still indicate charging. I contacted the company support to receive the following

"Charging the Chicago can be done by via the supplied usb-cable unsing the adpater for the car or at home linked to a computer. Instead of what is written in the manual the green light won't appear when the Chicago is fully charged. In the program it selve is an the left screen on indicator of how many power there is left."

But does the thing ever fully charge and is this clear on the screen? Also, is there a way to simply have the map screen display with no route input? Seems I always have to input a destination one way or another. When in use is there a way to click on POIs without bringing up the main screen?

Actually the POIs seem pretty poor - whenever I search for something near my location it always points to the north. I'll be installing some updates later so this may be resolved.

Any help from regular users appreciated - this is all quite new to me.

    Bem

How are you charging the unit ??

    1. If using the USB port of pc it will take a long time to charge
    2. Does the light turn green when plugged into cigarette lighter

Maybe take out battery from GPS then plug into car cigarette lighter to see does green light come on
so the GPS is running of car battery only
