Jackpot 100 HE 2/5 Blinds last night

    Stacks: I have 750 ish
Villian: has 300, i have not played with this guy before and he has only sat down

Its limped in three positions and i complete in the SB with 3 3

    Flop: 2c 3c 4s

I lead for 25, all fold to villian who calls

    Turn: 7h

I bet 65, villian thinks and calls

    River: 6d

I check, villian goes all in for 168

How many people call this river?

I'm fairly sure you shouldn't be using titles like that, so I edited it slightly.

Horrible river. It looks like he caught, and I'm pretty convinced I must say. It depends how much a muppet this guy is, but as you don't know him, I'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

If this was a raised pot im willing to go broke because at least you can narrow his range down and say hes doing it with AA-TT more times than hes doing it with 55 but in an unraised pot 5 is alot more likely to be in his range and TT-AA is alot less likely and i dont think he has 22 here enough for you to make a profit as its the only hand i think you beat

Edit/// I think he might have been referring to Homo Sapiens

I use the thumbrule, "when in doubt, let the pot odds decide". In saying that I probably would've folded, villain would have 5 here a lot of the time.

He hadnt just sat down he had proceeded to dog me with runner runner 4 and a 9 high flush and while not being the biggest value in the game there was always the chance you could get the lot off him easily enough.

It really was a horrible spot to be in but thinking back to it now i think you made the right fold which i know is the opposite of the general consensus last night while you were thinking of calling not once did he look back at his cards as he knew exactly what he had and he didnt have to check to see if he had. I said he was almost sh1tting himself but maybe that was with excitement as he knew a set was the only hand that could call him. He played the hand against keith the exact same way calling all the way down and then lumping it in when he hit so i presume he had 45

[EDIT] I think you have realised to power of raising out of the small blind now as that would have solved all your problems

you played the hand well, I would fold now.

Tony and I were chatting about this and neither of us could decide if we'd fold against him. The word is bandied about alot but this guy was the absolute definition of a donkey. At no point did he give the impression he might have thought about the opponents hand at all during the hand and in your trip-3 pot if he had any sense he might have realised he was playing to a split if he has a 5 but you have it made and if the board had paired and then a 6 came off he still would have pumped it.

Having seen him only play a few times before (only tourneys- never seen him near a final table) I think you have to just swallow the fold and pray you get to play with him again cause his money is always on display.

This whole message should be taken without regard to the donkey call I made later in the night where I got lucky.

i'd definitely have this guy on a5 clubs or pocket 5's. you dont know him so you cannot call, but he called and called no raising on the flop and turn, so it looks like he was drawing and hit.very well played and brave move if he doesn't have either of those hands. it sure looks like it though.
