Just wondering what type of feedback I should leave

Bought an electronic product. Listing said item was working fine last time it was used a year ago. However seller said he can't test the item and is being sold as is, with the buyer dealing with any problems product has

So turns out the thing is faulty

So possibly the seller knew it was faulty and just didn't want to mention it in the listing, possibly they didn't know it was faulty and it broke by itself when it wasn't being used(bit unlikely). I'm happy enough hanging on to it, not looking for refund etc, bit disappointed it's faulty

So do I leave positive because item was being sold as untested, my fault for buying

Do I leave neutral, because item faulty, possibly seller knew, but mybe not

Do I leave negitive, because it's likely seller knew it was faulty?

Only my opinion but you bought the item knowing well that the item may not have worked. I would expect that the price paid reflected the risk you were taking. That said I would be hard pushed to leave negative feedback. Depending on price paid and the item description at the time of purchase it would be a toss-up between Neutral or Positive.

Arguably you did receive the item that was advertised in the listing so there should not be any need to leave anything but positive feedback.

However, feedback is a tricky thing and not everybody will use it correctly. Your best bet is to leave positive feedback so you dont get any retaliatory negative feedback (even though that is against eBay rules)

95% of all items listed as untested or sold as seen that I have come across on eBay have been faulty in one way or another.

You probably have a case for leaving neutral feedback as the item did not work but I cant see any good coming from leaving negative.
