was only in sorrento for a day and night, stayed in rome mostly.. dont miss pompeii, its very close with loads of daytrip tours there but would recommend doing it yourself by train, its less than a half an hour away from the centre of sorrento, its one of the most amazing things you'll ever see.. you'll never forget! make sure you get a guided tour when you get there otherwise you wont hear all the history involved..

Sorrento is a beautiful little town; as the previous poster mentioned don't miss pompeii or the surrounding areas.

The isle of Capri; a short boat ride from the harbour in Sorrento is another unforgettable experience. There are three little villages on the island, one at ground level, the other at 500 feet and Anacapri at about 1000 feet above sea level. Get the cable car to the top of the mountain for a fantastic view of all the island, the bay of naples, mount vesuvius etc.

Capri also has the magnificent blue grotto.

Sorrento has a pub with a roof top bar that i have completely forgotten the name of :o

Take a short stroll out of the main Sorrento town centre to Sant'Angelo and you will pass by hundreds of orange groves (just like you see here in ireland :p )

If you rent a car (and you should), then drive the coast road (not A3 main road) from Salerno to Sorrento, stopping off in the various beauty spots along the way. Special attention to Almafi and Positano which are both very nice.
Also Mount Vesuvius is well worth a visit. Drive to near the top and walk to the summit. The views are amazing.
