Hello all, I recently got o2 broadband (Which is great!), but it seems to have changed the settings for my normal wireless connection in my house.

Basically what happens is: I turn on my laptop, it picks up the wireless connection and connects to it but it wont allow me to access the internet via IE or any other interent application. It is probably a small setting that needs to be changed but i have no idea what the settings should be. I did one of those connection diagnostics and it tells me that the gateway something somenthing cannot connect via ARP.

I have no idea what that means and any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Is your network set up to automatically detect the settings for IP addresse etc? I had the same problem myself at one stage, laptop was set up with a static IP address and stuff, would access the network but not be able to do anything on the net...

Thanks for the reply, I think the ip is set up correctly as I have not changed it since i first connected to the network. The wireless network is set up as the preferred network and to connect to it whenever it is in range and it does connect,so I cant understand why it wont just use that connection.

Do you know if there is a way to restore default settings for a wireless connection?

    Cheers!

Did you lose your security settings, like your WEP key. The first step really is if you can see the router in your house.

    1) Open up a command line, Start - Run - cmd
    2) type ipconfig, not your ip address3)the router is more than likely the last ip address. If your ip address is 192.168.1.1 try ping 192.168.1.254 and see what response you get.

Try ringing o2 if it is not a issue with your wep/wpa key.
