does anyone have one of these puppies??

i have read that they have the polarity of the wiring back to front which means buying extra batteries requires a little rewiring of the battery as a minimum.

i would like to rewire the aeg...anyone undertaken this as i want to have a standard set of batteries rather then one batch for one set of aegs and then a few for the m14?

suggestions welcome. i read arnies but it all seems a little vague and all very un-noobish...so a step by step moron guide would be helpful...

I haven't got one to look at it but a motor polarity swap is generally very easy to do. Trace your power loom back to the motor. There's two solder points on the motor case, usually on the back. Desolder those, swap them, resolder them.

    Job done.

This is assuming there's no regulation diode on it. There usually isn't but it can happen. Often there is a small yellow circular plate attached between the solder points too. This is a capacitor and just needs to stay connected to the two solder points, regardless of polarity.

You can also just switch round the wires on the connector which I find to be much easier ;)

Good point! Head for Maplin and see if they have a pack of UV Molex connectors, they're like 6 or 7 euro, in the pack there's a handly little tool that pushes out the pins on the battery connectors without damage.

    This thing:

The tool is the silver bit at the bottom. It saves tears and time.

i assume we are talking about the same thing,

its just a case of taking the aeg battery side connector, and swapping it around??

obviously i have to do the same on the stock battery to standardise that also

this is the only thing stopin me buyin the M14.

i take it, its just switching the plastic conector around where the battery and the M14 meet.

    on both battery and M14?

nail, head, you, hammer...bingo...thats what i am hoping the lads will answer too...i think that is all you do...

i should have the m14 next week...so hopefully i will have an answer by then.

because there is one other issue...you cant use a normal charger on the supplied battery as its the wrong way around...

    Ahh Haa now i see!:D

shouldnt be too hard to manage, i assume after this is done then it can take a normal batter rather than leaving it as is, with only using the battery that came with it.

now where did i hide the credit card?

ober i only realised after i ordered and i have not reviewed it at all but i think cyma are also doing a m14...doesnt have any of this BS and apparently is a lot more tm centric allowing easier sharing of mags...some of the mags dont work on the AGM, for example the king arms ones...

might be worth a check before you order, as i said i know bugger all about it, but would be worth an hour on the interweb methinks...

You can't change the battery connector because it won't drain if you do. Also if you attmept to charge it you'll destroy it.

The connection swap needs to be done at the motor.

so i take it dex i just dump the stock AGM battery, switch the connector in the aeg and buy another battery

when you say at the motor, i take it the connector swap on the aeg wont work then?

Welcome to my circuit diagram program!

Thats the reasoning for the battery connector swap not working. You have my head mithered with this trying to figure it out on paper. (my virtual test bench program isn't understanding the problem). I'm gonna put together a test rig in work tomorrow to see if I can fix the problem with an adaptor and if not, what changes you need to make to the wiring loom to get it to work with both stock and regular batteries. I have an idea already but I want to be certain.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was saying but I made it sound over complicated. Swapping the rifle side of the battery connection is the same as swapping the motor connections. I'd be worried about the fuse being on the wrong line after you do it but sure that's not anything big.

i will check when i get it if it has a fuse..if so i will butcher the cables

Let me know what it's like. An M14 has been on the cards for me for some time.
