I was thinking of picking up something like a 504, but i've just found out you have to PAY EXTRA to upgrade so it can play back movies with AC3 soundtracks? And it's not even compatible with Divx movies?

Is this true? It's madness if it is..

I have a 404, and the only files i've had trouble with is ones with AC3 encoded audio...

I just used Super to convert the files over, perfect now :D

Yes, the 504 does play divx.

You need to buy the AC3 codec as a plugin, this is why archos pmps are cheaper than the competition. If you don't need it, you don't have to pay that extra bit. Good for some, not so good for others.
