I've been contacted by this Schmap crowd on Flickr asking if they could include some of my photos in their online travel guides.

They're not bad little guides, so I said yes... unfortunately one of the photos was from the Dublin Wax Museum which I had to inform them sadly no longer exists.

They're using one of my Madrid Wax Museum photos instead though.

There was a round of this a few months back where a load of people were contacted. There was a debate about rights etc.

I allowed mine to be used at the the time, and then regretted it afterwards. Can't remember why though, havent thought about it since then tbh!

Congrats on getting picked out though, nice one.

Actually I noticed in the photo they used my girlfriend of the time just sneaked into shot... but I guess she could pass for a wax dummy... ha

I'm currently in a very pretty town called Sóller in Spain and I'm really testing out my new 400D for the first time...

They used this one of mine http://www.flickr.com/photos/gandalfirl/393999317/

No problems letting them use it at all.

I said yes the first few times, especially to the strangely dull photo's they requested but have subsequently changed my opinion a bit and have declined the last time.
I suppose it boils down to a Rights vs Reward issue. You give away Rights to the image for the publicity, is that enough?

An interesting debate - read article and Schmap's rebuff can be read here:-

I said yes to one of the popes cross in the Phoenix park ... but I noticed that they had placed Newgrange on the Sundrive Road in Crumlin ... so I'd hate to be a tourist relying on them!!
