Besides the Tirathlons listed on Triathlon Ireland's website are there any other ones that I can enter (Sprint distance & my first time)?

Basically I've been training this summer but won't be ready for the ones listed. Looking at something in late September/early October maybe?

    Northern Iireland an option too.

    All suggestions welcome.

    Cheers.

Do you really want to swim in Irish waters and then get on a bike while wet in October?

Triathlon Ireland is the only show in town when it comes to events in Ireland. Can you imagine how much it would cost for any independent group to put on a race that esentially says "swim with a group of people who are all trying to thump you or swim over you, cycle along irish roads at speed and then run"

If you really want to do a race this year then I think your best bet is to look abroad. This might be expensive though as bike transport costs a bomb.

TI also covers Northern Ireland so their races are listed on the TI calendar e.g. Lough Neagh in August

All the triathlon events are on triathlon ireland.... basically thats all you got to work with. I know there are some clubs that have test tri's, which consists of a pool swim and then bike and run outside, other than this there is nothing happening in october onwards. The water is just to cold to swim in....

If i was you concentrate on your swimming technique over the winter and keep cycling and running and then burst onto the scene next year, get some duathlons under your belt as warm ups in january/febuary then take on a triathlon.

    All the best.
