Problem with Dell 2407

I was wondering if anyone could diagnose a problem with my monitor. When I turn on my computer, the screen turns on perfectly for about 2 seconds, then turns off (the green LEDs stay on, so it's still drawing power). I've plugged it in to various machines, with different cables, so it's definitley the monitor. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, it's not in warranty, so I need to get it repaired (or repair it myself if it's something simple).

Check your pins in the plug, might be bent.

I had the same problem with a Samsung LCD. If you look at the screen (try looking at it at an angle in good daylight) can you see a ghost of the image that should be there? If so its the backlight thats gone, replacement is expensive. I just bought a new monitor in the end.

Are you using DVI or VGA?

What refresh rate have you set?

Thanks for getting back to me!

I dont think the problem is with any of the cables, even when it's completely free of cables (i.e just plugged into the mains), when the monitor turns on, you see the "No VGA connection available" perfectly for like 1-2 seconds, then it flickers a little and shuts off (and when I say shuts off, I mean the LCD screen itself, not the whole monitor). It doesn't matter which cable/port you're using (VGA, DVI etc etc).
