Radiator recore - anyone had it done ?

    Hi folks

Getting quotes of £180 through £250 (+ exchange) for a recon radiator - the standard 3-core = cheapest, and 4- or 5-core = most expensive. Plus abot £100 more to cover shipping both ways. Have a feeling those are "premium" prices given past experience.

Does anyone do radiator recores in Dublin ?

Or should I not even bother thinking about getting it done locally, again given recent experience in getting quotes for clutch replaced ?

    Cheers

    Frank

I got the Fiat 850 radiator and heater matrix done with a local place here in Galway. About 6 years ago with the rad and 3 with the matrix and no problems since. Ask some local garages/ mechanics where they get any rad work done.

Select 'Car Radiators' and 'Dublin' from the drop down lists and you'll get a bunch of options-

Probably a bit too far away, but for what it's worth, I've used Carlow Radiators several times and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I had a small rad re-cored in the UK some years back and it cost me £65 then. The rad prices don't seem that mad, but the carriage is ridiculous! It should cost no more than half the money you mention.

If you get one in Dublin, come back and let us all know what you've thought of the work.

    Hi Frank
I had radiators rebuilt by Marston when they were on Cromac St Belfast. Now part of a UK wide concern, but perhaps worth a try.
