    Apologies but reposting this under GPS as I may get a better response!

    Hi Folks,

    I want to buy the TomTom Go 910 as it claims to have all of Europe(!!) and the US and Canada as well as a lot of additional handy features. I find myself in both the US and Canada regularly so this seems to be the best choice.

    Now "all of Europe" doesn't cover Ireland for some reason. Does anyone know if such a map can be bought / downloaded for it either now or in the very near future?

    Or if any body has any useful comments (positive or negative) on this particular model before I take the plunge - that would be appreciated.

    Yep , It has USA & Canada , and Ireland on the western Europe maps . Have a search here there are plenty of posts on the 910 , I have one and can vouch for it .

    Now I'm even more confused!! Thanks for the recommendation Sharkman but I had a search like you said and I come across this;

    Any more advice would be appreciated. I really do fancy the 910 but if it's not mapping Ireland properly then I need to look at alternatives I guess?

    That post is a year old . Trust me 99.9% coverage of Ireland .

    Apologies for being such a PITA Sharkman but Komplett.ie would appear to be the most reasonable for the 910 right now (€389);

    Here's the link - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=320968

    There's a red information bar across the screen saying Ireland is not covered. So should I just avoid Komplett and go somewhere else or will I go with komplett and download Ireland maps at a later date?

    If you have another site where it is similarly priced and DEFINITELY includes Ireland, then I will go for it.

    I'm going to France in 2 weeks so I'd really like to be operational by then!

    No more stupid questions I promise!
    ;)

    If you want full cover for Ireland just go for Garmin.

    You can also get full coverage of Europe & USA depending on the model you go for. - Recommended models > Nuvi 310 & 660 & 670

    Believe me , I have a TT Go910 and have run it alongside a Garmin and the maps are the same quality , except they are not presented in the Garmin cartoon fashion .

    Make sure the maps are 6.75 as they are as sharkman said 99%.

    My best mate got one on Sat, updated to 6.75 and now it is working perfectly and he travels country wide from small villages to cities and had no problems so far.

    I ordered it today and with any bit of luck, it may be delivered by Friday which would be nice as I am travelling the length of the country (more or less) friday afternoon!

    I believe it comes only with a car charger which will be fine initially but do I have to go for a genuine TT mains charger or will a cheapy universal type one work?

    it does come with a charger. just not one for irish sockets. you need a US to UK converter. i got the same one from komplett and use a 'shaver only' converter, which converts European and American plugs to Irish/UK plugs. its great. you just gotta get the Uk and Ireland map/western europe map (has full coverage of Ireland). so far ive found everything ive wanted on it.
    i love my go 910

    Is it a free download or does it cost?
