hey, im looking for a transfer from one parish to the next parish. i havent played in a year, but even after i objected my club wont sign the transfer. i was hoping to play for my new club in the u21s at the end of the year. i have been told by the county board without the transfer been signed i'l have to wait until jan. i have already looked at the loop holes of leaving the county and coming back in but thats no good anyone any ideas/loop holes.

im in a very similar position to you. my club have turned down my transfer request twice over the past 2 years. I took a full year out of football and then applied for a transfer to the next parish - they turned that down but said that if i play with them for the year and am still unhappy at the end of it - they would sign the transfer.

So in january 07 - i still hate the club for various reasons but the club turn down the transfer again..... So i refuse to ever to play for them again and i am taking another year out of football:mad: - if they refuse to sign it this year, i am going to transfer to a club in a different county - in my case it will be to a club in louth or dublin - after that i can transfer to any club in meath....... as far as i know that is the rules - it just takes another year to away from playing football in meath:mad:

You need to check local bye-laws

    http://meath.gaa.ie/documents/FoDlighte2007AnMhi.pdf

e.g. Rule 13. Players who have not played with a club for 48 weeks may be transferred at any time during a year provided the transfer is signed by both club secretaries and presented and cleared at a Coiste Chontae meeting.

    Another interesting one is ...

Rule 43 (c) This relates to minor players (may apply in your case)

Any player seeking a transfer back to his home parish Club shall be automatically granted such transfer.

So you'd have to find out if your current club is your "home parish club" not as straight forward as you might think, for example in my parish there are 3 clubs, and no clear lines of demarcation. Might be worth looking into

Also look at my thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055127024

    Meathman,

Rule 12 in the bye-laws states..

"The County Competitions Control Committee shall deal with all transfer requests signed and *unsigned* and shall make recommendations to Coiste Chontae whose decision shall be final....."

Which implies that you can make a transfer request without the form being signed by your own club, up to you to make the case for a transfer??

hey im nearly sure if u leave the county and transfer back in, u have to go to your home parish. i also heard that the only way you can change parish is if you marry a girl from another parish. im also in meath. so do you know what the chances are of getting it

This has come up a bit recently. The laws in the GAA for this are very uncertain. Transfers are a dodgy subject. On one hand you could get the transfer but on the other you could be refused and spend the season on the bench if not more. I dont think anyone here could give you a solid answer on it for they are so unclear. I think you would have to consult the law book and find something that clears you to leave your club. Its another thing i think they have to have solid rules on but no holding of breadth!

yes you go back to your home parish but they then have to accept your transfer to any club in meath - so my understanding is that if you are willing to spend a year in louth or dublin football, you can then comeback and move to any club you want to in meath....
