If I was presented with an engine I did not know, I would try at 3 turns open, if that didn't work then 2 1/2 turns open, and retune from there to make it sweeter until I found the correct settings for that partiucular engine.

how do you know when you have found the correct setting.
is it that you get used to a certain feel or sound of the car?
sorry for the Q.s but a close friend of mine used to do this stuff for me.

    I noticed that as well.

What do you try when even that doesnt work?
I have got my new pullstart, I reset to the manufacturer's settings and then it wont start. It tries to go for a few seconds and then cuts out. I have tried playing around with the settings but to no avail.
BTW this is a revo that I took off the ez--start motor but I am still using the battery pack and Blue wire to ignite the glow plug.
Thanks if you can help me :)
It is really p***ing me off that I cant get using it

I assume you checked that the glow plug is fine? Or maybe put a new one in to check?

Sometimes I found that it just would not start.. check everything and all seems fine. Put a new glow plug in and off we go. ;)

Check for airleaks, they wreck the tuning alot.

I though I might explain how it works.
Then I remembered ... beginner ... a simple guideline is far more helpful.
    So I cut it somewhat.

    Sometimes less is more :D

Did u reckon I had it explained ok (clear enough) that way? It's not easy to explain clearly.

sorry for the Q.s but a close friend of mine used to do this stuff for me.

It is the feel, the sound, and the ability to rev up and to idle smoothly.
You could use any one method on it's own once you are used to it.
Getting used to it ... everyone does after a while ... mastering it totally ... I estimate only 2% of them achieve that.
I can tune by shouted instructions at 200 metres, but I'm still learning too. :)

Engine too rich or glowplug needs replacement.
Maybe you should replace with a slightly hotter glowplug to suit the car better.
For info read here Green Hobby & Model Select the FAQ link, guess what FAQ number one is? ;)

For a more lengthy explanation of what goes on in a new engine look at my own website the link is "Model Flying Addict" in the signature to my posts. Select the "running-in" link. It is worth re-reading again later when you know a bit more at that stage.

Hope this helps you get over the expertise fence.
