I've noticed that the jargon used in poker changes more often than in any other any area I can think of. New words constantly go in and out of fashion. Anyone agree with me, or know why this might be?

You should see how language evolves or devolves in Online Multipalyer Online RPG's like World od Warcraft.

Newbe - newb -Noob - Nab

The best bit I have found is when these abreviations from the written word actaully make it into the spoken word.

I had a guy SAY "LOL" to me. I of course replied "ROFL"
