Its a fairly standard procedure these days,do the job as good as you can and you should have no problems.

I've just finished my probationary period with a company, was supposed to have my review on Friday afternoon but quit.
They're nothing to worry about, did you get an intrim review?i.e a review around the 3 month mark?If so, as long as you've improved, or attempted to improve on the points brought up at that then you've nothing to worry about.

Fairly standard.. and has been said - if you've managed to get to the six month mark without acting the bollix then there's little to worry about...

They just usually go through areas for improvement or let you know that you're doing fine..

Chances are, that if there were any serious shortcommings in your performance, any decent line manager would have "had a word" with you by now.

Had my 6 month probation passing meeting the other day.

You sit down with your immediate head and an HR person. Normally you get sent a self analysis form a day or 2 in advance. You fill it out and bring it to the interview, this will the be a basis for discussions, eg.

Was the job and your progress as expected?
Did you reach your goals (yes, I learnt how to do the job...)
What is the most difficult part of the job, and how do you overcome the difficulty etc?
What are your job related goals for the next 6-12 months etc.
Then they'll tell you if they are happy with you and where they think you can still improve etc.
Then they talk about payrises if you're lucky, I was lucky...!!!

    Good luck.

It really depends on the company.

Most companies put in the 6-month probationary period as a get-out clause in your contract so that they can remove you without fuss if you turn out to be useless.

    Any company I've ever been in has taken one of two approaches;
    1. Say nothing, and just keep going (by the contract this means that it's assumed that you'll be kept on).
    2. Issue a letter saying, "Well done, you've satisfactorily completed your probation period".

Some companies may take the approach that botvot experienced. Usually you'll be set specific goals and tasks to have completed by the end of the probationary period, so that you can be reviewed. If the company hasn't set any goals aside from "Do your job", then it's tougher to sit down and evaluate your performance.

I wouldn't worry about it. As someone else says, if you were on the edge you'd know about it long before now.
