"Nice"

God I hate that word. But I can't stop myself from using it. I'm sure there are 100 other synonyms for the word, but when the time comes, nothing beats it.
And I hate myself for using it.

    "How new laptop?"
    "Ach it's nice".

I'll then go into a full conversation as to why it's nice, but why the hell do I start with that?

Do does it bother anybody else?

I've been saying it a lot since the South Park episode

    "have they had intercourse?"
    "yes"
"has she performed oral sex on the boy?"
    "what? yeah, I think so"
    "... niccce"

    Very weak adjective. :(

Thesaurus suggests - agreeable, delightful, charming, likable, attractive, good, kind, friendly, well-mannered, polite, respectable

    All weak words too!

I find myself using the word amaaaazing way too much. I sound like a real sap when I do. That combined with "like" every other word. I just can't help myself sometimes, like.

Two old friends, who hadn't seen each other in fifteen years, met for lunch one day, to catch up.

"I got married and my husband just bought me a 24K gold necklace," said the first woman.

    "That's nice," said the second.

"And he bought me a Mercedes sports car for our anniversary."

    "That's nice."

"And he bought me a house along the beach for my birthday."

    "That's nice."

"Well sweetheart doesn't your husband ever buy you nice things or send you nice places?"

"Oh", the second woman responds, "When we first got married he did send me to etiquette school."

"Why'd he do that?" the first woman asks.

"To learn to say 'that's nice' instead of 'f*ck you!'"

it's a word for the sake of it, i work in a curtain shop and you have stuff like this
Woman: what do you think of this, it'll go perfectly with the paint we we looking at.
    man: ah, it's nice

if a girl says "you're nice".......does that mean she thinks you're a sissy??

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,154 ✭✭✭Oriel

Aw FFS. Somebody give a 10-word definition of "nice".

    Examples:
"Boiling": having reached the boiling point.
"Cold:" having a relatively low temperature.
"Underground:" beneath the surface of the ground
    "Build:" to construct.

    Without Google, define "nice".

That's the exact same as me! Whenever a friend says something like that to me I always respond by slowly saying "...nice...". It's brilliant and I always find it funny!

    Nice thread by the way...

Edit: Nice can mean pleasure as opposed to pain or suffering.

10 words, there you go Oriel.

    I do it with "grand".

It's like my standard response when people ask me stupid questions. Instead of saying, "I have no opinion one way or the other because the subject is so mundane", I just say, "Ah grand."

    Oriel wrote:

That's not a definition. You can't define something using the same word.
