I wonder has anyone else noticed that Newstalk audio gets distorted for periods?

I mailed Newstalk and will post my reply.

    Thanks.

The audio for Newstalk was a little distorted on the FM transmission this morning for me here in Galway also, not sure if the two are related.

Its quite often distorted on the webcast too, like a fm radio not tuned in 100%.

Haven't listened today but I've always felt they're audio was harsh from time to time.

Still happy they are on sat.

I did ask how come they never mentioned they were on satellite but he never replied??? Might try that question again.

" Different station different nation " wonder who thought of that one??

For over 6 weeks I've noticed an underlying crackling sound on NT on satellite, I was hoping it would go away but unfortunately it hasn't happened. I contacted NT a guy called Chris Doyle said he will pass it on, crackling continued, I contacted Chris Doyle and he said it was repaired, but it wasn't :-(

Is it possible for someone to take a listen to NT on satellite and confirm the underlying crackling sound.

    Many thanks.

    JD.

Thanks Johnboy1951 as of 21:26 Irish no crackling. At 21:28 Irish it started. I listen on headphones.

    All reports welcome.

    Thanks.

Notice the same thing with Today FM. The broadcast sound quality drops for awhile and then goes back to original setting. It has been happening for the last few days.
    I am also in Galway.

Their sound quality is now fine ...... HOWEVER ...

The volume is way too high!
It's now the loudest radio station on my sky box.

    Not noticed here.
No louder than Absolute channels, or many others including some BBC channels.
In fact might be less volume than many, but that might be due to content.

Tried both Sky+HD box and FTA set up.

Sorry to hear that. Contact Chris.Doyle@Newstalk.com it might be of interest to him, if he does not know he can never try to sort it.

    Keep us posted.
