great store, a lot of people have bought from there, myself included.

you do have to pay import tax yes, i didn't though because my postman was half asleep when he delivered it at 7am no less, but expect to pay it and don't ask is there how to avoid it as it's frowned upon here :p

You've got to remember, shipping stuff from Japan costs a lot.

Thomann ship orders over e200 for free, so whether isibashi is 'cheaper' or not depends on what you're buying. It's great for Japanese guitars - Fender Japan, Edwards, Ibanez, all that kind of stuff. And it has a second-hand section which will obviously have a great range of Japanese stuff, at great prices.

I've yet to order from them but when I do I'll let ya know how I got on. Read the musical instruments resources thread (it's a sticky) and it'll have information on them. I think the man above me kindly wrote it!

    PRS guitars for 420.
What currency are these guys on?

Are these guitars the real deal or fake like www.fairy66.com ?

I have seen Gibson Les Paul Faded 50's neck on Thomann.de for €1666

How come this model is that price but the other standards are up to €3000.

Only suckers pay e3000 for Gibsons.

The faded can be had on Ishibashi for e1350 odd (all in, shipping customs etc) Brand new.

What is the difference with the faded and the €3000 model?

What e3000 model? Standards can be had for 1 or 2 hundred quid more....Someone who is more into Gibsons than will probably tell you the cheapest place for them.

Personally i'd go for an Edwards LP.

How do i buy an Edwards from that Japanese site......don't understand the lingo.

The price is in yen including tax. Does that mean Irish customs tax & shipping or what?

I've seen LP customs and 335's on that site for as little as 1500 Euro in comparison to upwards of 3K here. They are excellent to deal with. You'll normally pay around 18,000 yen for shiping and also expect to pay around 25% taxation when it arrves on the Emerald isle. If the value of the guitar is over 650 Euro then customs will most likely hold on to it until you get a customs clearing agent to sort things out for you. You pay them the tax and they send your axe. If it's lower in value you normally pay the postman. ...My experiences anyways ...Damn when do i get my 3rd star.....500?

Email them, the address is in the resource thread, put international order in the subject field.
Just tell them what model/s you are interested in and they'll get back to you in a couple of days.
The mail they usually send back has all the relevant information required, ie. how to pay, shipping costs etc.......

What is the difference between the Laquer Taste series and the Original series of Lp's by edwards.

By the way check out www.guitarjapan.com

Seems much cheaper than the above for Edwards......

yea, thanks seems like a bit of bother to get them from japan might just stick with the germans.

Not really much of a bother, Ishi are great to deal with. The guitar should arrive in about a week of them sending it. You have online tracking too.

The beauty is that you can pick up some sweet guitars that you can't normally buy here. :)

^ Don't let it put you off that they're site is in Japanese. (And when translated it is translated poorly). But after surfing they're website for so long you'll get used to it! :)

So let me get this straight...

If i want to order a guitar off Ishibashi I will have to pay 25% import tax on the price of the guitar before shipping?

I'm thinking of ordering a japanese Fender Jazzmaster which sells for €567 including shipping and with 25% import tax that'd be €708.

    Is that right?

From what I know, you get the price of the guitar that ishibashi is selling (Remember, it will be WITHOUT the 5% sales tax. So if there's two prices, you'll be paying the one written in black). You add 16,000-18,000JPY for shipping. Then add 25% on the total cost.

shipping is liable for tax too.

    That's it, bang on.

The 25% is only a rough figure, because there's import duty (3.x%) and also VAT(21%), and you pay both on the guitar and import duty on the shipping (or something like that...). And usually a handling fee to anpost of a couple of Euro.

But anyway, anytime i've worked it out, 25% is near enough bang on.

This is true, shipping is considered a service and is also liable for tax.

Its safe to say that just add on 16,000Y (shipping approx) onto the black figure you see on the site. get 25% of combined figure, add that on. Go to www.XE.com, convert from JPY to EUR and bobs your uncle. That figure is going to be nearly exactly what you will pay in total. I was about €20 out on my calculations because I didn't factor in the shipping in the VAT+customs.

Edit: sorry, still in work mode...I was using $.....hahaa damn currencies...
