    Hi, first post here,

I've just got a new TV aerial, all TV stations are v good except for RTE2 its reception is terrible totla snow almost gone, this is the strongest signal my tv auto search has located.

Any comments as to what might be causing this/how to improve it would be much appricated.

Ratoath Co. Meath just off the village,

    Thanks

You should be able to get good reception on all the Irish channels in Rathoath from either Claremont Cairne or Three Rock.
What kind of aerial are you using? What way is it pointing? Did you have decent reception on your old TV?
If your new TV has a Digital (DVB-T/DTT) tuner in it you should be able to pick up the Irish channels on the digital trial too.

Hi, I've only moved into the house about 3 months ago and I got the aerial then, the guy who put it up just shugged his sholders and said that was the best he could get? I got a Sky box with a scottish card so I dont have the RTE's on sky, it didnt bother me at first but it does now.

I have no idea what type of aerial it is, a smallish one on a pole, sorry

To be honest I never had much faith in auto search for analouge channels
    Try tuning in RTE2 manually
I have no idea what type of aerial it is
If its pointing towards Dundalk its pointing at claremont carn
If its pointing just south of Dublin its pointing at three rock
If its pointing towards Longford (ish) its pointing at Cairnhill

There are 4 transmitters which cover Ratoath which should all give moderate or excellent reception. The guy who put it up sounds like an idiot if that's the best he could get. Three Rock or Kippure (Kippure needs 2 aerials for proper results) would give excellent coverage in Ratoath.

Clermont Carn could also work, but the signal has to pass over the hill I live on to reach Ratoath and that might not work so well. Unless you've a good view to the north.

Have a look at this link: http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051054. Tell us what aerial on that page yours looks like the most.

Are the elements (little rods or else X-shaped like bowties) lined up horizontally or vertically?
