Gmail Adjustments

Just thought I'd share a couple of nice Gmail things I've discovered. First I was looking around the Gmail settings, and I found out I could turn off the annoying ad at the top of my Gmail Inbox. (It's the one that displays those little quotes in a blue box.) I got rid of that in a couple of clicks. Here's how to do it, go to Settings, click on the Web Clips tab and uncheck Show my web clips above the Inbox. That's it, no more distracting blue box!

I've also changed the number of email messages Gmail displays, so there's far less scrolling. If you want to try this the setting is on the General tab, and at the top under Maximum page size choose Show 25 conversations per page, instead of the default 50, from the drop down list.

In case you didn't know, now anyone can sign up for Gmail directly from the Gmail home page. Instead of having to send or receive an invitation to get an account you can just go to www.gmail.com. So it's a lot more straightforward to refer someone to the service.

Lastly I've found a little gadget for my iGoogle home page, that I think some may like. It's a handy little currency converter. It's convenient and converts instantly: http://www.google.ie/ig/directory?hl=en&root=%2Fig&dpos=top&num=24&url=http://www.donalobrien.net/apps/google/currency.xml (The developer Donal O'Brien is from Ireland, so thanks to him for creating it.)
