Damage Question

Yesterday when pulled in for an ambulance to pass, two junkies decided to have a bit of a go at one another and one fell against my mates car.

When he got out to inspect the damage the two miscreants meandered off up the street fairly sharpish.

Not willing to restrain either of the two for the Gardai's arrival he got back in the car and cursed his bad luck. It turns out the bad luck will cost 800 to repair (Cash figure, no insurance involved).

Does he just take the hit and put it down to experience or is there any way of having some of the cost of repair covered?

I don't know by who; hence the reason for the question.

The only option would be to calim insurance if your mate has fully comp cover. That said he probably has an excess of €500 so will only be able to claim the extra €300. If he doesn't have NCB protection it's not really worth goint through the insurance - just chalk it up and bite the bullet, I'm afraid :(
