Man what kind of idiot picked a topic like . .oh no wait a second.

I think next time to avoid confusion a topic like this needs terms and conditions & detailed instructions ! Kind of wish I had entered it now too.

My vote is on 'skyscraper' cool shot.

Hang on, it's your topic and you didn't enter? Sheesh. I'm disappointed in you!

Nope -I picked it to see what other people were up to in that (hard-to-define-kind-of-an) area.

    Aaah, very shneaky.

I must admit, I find architecture hugely difficult to make a connection with, in photography terms. Now and again the way the light comes in the window of a room, I would love to capture that but generally from the outside I think it's incredibly difficult to take a shot that you feel goes beyond a pure and simple 'here's a building' photograph.

I think photographers sometimes look that way at categories that they don't work in. Usually trying it for themselves is the point where they realise that its not as easy/straightforward as they thought.

Each to their own I suppose.

    @ Elven,

I find architecture photogrpahy the same in respect to how difficult I find it and how I should approach it. I think alot of it for me has got to do with the fact that alot of buildings have been shot countless times (especially in Dublin in relevance to me) and I don't see why I would take yet another shot that looks so similar to alot of other I would have seen. I did intend to try something new for this topic but I've just moved house and had to have a root through the archives for something to enter.

Some very nice entries there. Tough choice between Fashion Mall, Stephens Green and Skyscraper but think the skyscraper just edges it for me..

Interesting that the only full-colour entry is a night-time shot and doesn't have much colour anyway.

Went for Skyscraper. All of them are quite good though

I keep meaning to enter one of these competitions but keep forgetting...

Skyscraper just edged it over Shopping Mall for me. All great stuff though!

I had an idea for this one but it just didn't work. That stuff's hard! And I need a 10-20.

I loved Customs House, but didn't feel that the building was really "contemporary".

Went for Fashion House, as I felt that the shape of the building really reflected what the building was built to house.

Of course, I forgot to upload my own shot...

I think you should all vote for "Fashion Show" as I really want to have a contest called "my hairy feet."

    Oh yes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

They are all good shots. Skyscraper just pips it for me....

    Congrats Pete, great shot.

Las Vegas Bloke came second, DarrenG third.

Now, before I become utterly tempted to put the challenge on hiatus, someone throw a theme at me.

I could go for the hairy feet one (that fenster came up with above) - or failing that just 'hair' or something.

Ps congrats to the winners/runners uppers.

hmm, not been a very active boardsie lately as been having a major photo draught, but how about 'shiny' (we had darkness a while back)

Fenster can submit his hairy feet then if he polishes or paints his toenails all shiny!! :p

Congrats Pete and thanks to the 7 people who voted for me.

Im not sure if it has been done before... but how about a theme along the lines of 'confrontation' or 'conflict'?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conflict

Might be a hard picture to get, but that might make it a bit more interesting :)

Hairy feet theme? Eh.. that's a bit vomit enducing... I'll keep it in mind though, I'm sure we're all on the edges of our seats wondering how hairy elvens toes are.

I'll take conflict for this one, purely for the difficult nature of the theme and the variety I see in it.
