Anxiety

So basically, I went through a hard time about a year ago when a family member was ill, they've since got over it, for the time being anyway, and have a good outlook. The ilness was related to addiction and I constantly have a fear theres a relapse.

But since this I find myself with heightened anxiety, generally I was always an anxious enough person but during the ilness and I was pretty bad, although nobody knew.

Even when the person was ill I was overreacting way more than anybody else in my family. But now thats passed but I generally find myslf quite anxous, as if I was anxious for so long I find it hard to let go of it. I'd be at home doing nothing and just start to get worked up by the stupidest things, like calling home, getting no answer and sort of starting to freak out a bit and then it snow balls and I get quite worked up. This isnt a daily occurance but its more often than i'd like, I now find it hard even to face the home after what went on there, mainly because i'm nervous i'l hear something I dont want to, like the addiction(drinking) has started again.
I generally am fine but i'm looking to do something about this now, if something else in my life were to go wrong or whatever I think i'm quite vunerable at the moment and wonder how i'l react.
My general outlook on life is also generally more negative than ever, I know i'm not depressed I just mean I definitley used to think diferently.

Counsellor/GP is not something i'm interested in and have had experience of that through another family member with problems and they were totally f***ed up by it.
If anybody wants to hear a story about how useless a GP and 2 counsellors can be, i've got one.

I mean some sort of alternative therapy?
I've heard a bit about cognitive behaviour or something ?

There are so many different types of therapy, one of which is cognitive behaviour therapy, of which you mentioned. Sometimes it is about finding the right therapist (both personality and style) to suit the person. I have had experiences of therapists myself - some worked well for me, whereas others did not.

Some people find hypnotherapy can help with anxiety as well, or even doing something like attending a yoga class.
