I just bought this new drive (LG GSA-H22L) for my Dell Dimension 9200. The drive is SATA only and the new drive is IDE. After finding this out i bought a adapter and installed it without any trouble. Now i am having a hard time getting windows to recognize the new drive in the bios. I have turned on all sata ports and made sure all cables were securely in place. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make windows recognize it?

There's a bit of a contradiction in what you're saying: The bios has nothing to do with windows. It's the black screen that you see at the start of the boot process. I'm not trying to be an ass here, it's a very important difference. If the drive is not visible in the bios, windows has no chance of seeing it.

If you're not able to see it in the bios it could be that the converter isn't doing its job properly. Have a look at the jumper settings on the drive too. I'd imagine it needs to be set in "master" mode, though you could try all options there.

Any chance you could return the drive for an SATA one?

    Also, welcome to boards.
