Female roles in Transformers (WARNING:SPOILERS)

This morning I heard some movie critic with a double barrell name (think she's the one off Channel 6) waffling about Transformers on Phantom fm.

She loved the movie, but had a problem with the female roles just being typical eye candy. At the time I thought Transformers would be a very typical action flick in this respect, but after seeing it I totally disagree.

I don't know any of the character names (just out of the cinema 20 mins ago) but the female lead had way more strength then her male counterpart.

She had the strength to walk away from her boyfriend when he acted like a dick.
She knew all the mechanical lingo etc
She was the one that saved the guy from the little decepticon
She saved bumblebee and then went full on into battle.
Far more strength in the character in general

As for the female computer analyst, well, she was the one who cracked the code, came up with the organic machine idea, had the balls to go to the only guy who could help etc etc etc

What's you opinion? I think the critic should have actually watched the movie, but then, I guess I'm not paid for such toil.
    Failed to load the poll.
