Hardly normal are advertising a 'Harmon Kardon' home entertainment system for 1100 notes. It advertises it as home theatre in a box. Includes: surround sound speakers. 5 satellite speakers and 10" subwoofer. av receiver. Dolby digital, dolby pro logic llx, logic 7 and DTS-ES. Dvd player. Uses pixel by pixel rathre than line based processing. Can anyone advise me on this product? Is it worth it? It says I will save 400 on recommended price. Thanks for any help folks. I posterd this on the wrong forum earlier. Thanks

depends what you want. hoem theatre in a box tre fine for people that want surround sound in an easy unobtrusive manner. they will not give earth shatter performance, especially at that price. Harmon kardon are a well known make, i know people who have had their amps for quite some time now and no complaints

I had the misfortune to wire one of those yokes up recently. The guy asked me what I thought, obviously expecting me to be impressed - won't be going back there for a chat any time soon . . .

In a small to medium room they're fine for movies with plenty of boom and splash but bugger all in between. For music I'd rather listen to AM.

Someone said here before - any sales man can sell a popular item - it takes a good salesman to sell crap. Is it the Swords store you're viewing in ? Stocky guy - 5'7" bald ??? about 30 or so ??? He's been trying to shift those things for the past year to anyone who'll listen.

they aint that bad..then again i have never heard their speakers, just the amps hooked up to better speakers...ask him to do a demo with the hk speakers and something better...that'll let you know if it is the amp or the speakers

1100 should get you a fairly decent system , better than that package anyway , in general , those home theatre in a box kind of packages are not great , they sound good if its a step up from an all in one midi , but dont stand up compared to separates you can buy.

As an example , 1100 could get you a decent Av reciever /amp ( say a yamaha , Denon , or even a sony STR series ) and a Mordaunt short premier plus set of surround speakers, all in all a well respected entry level set up and you should have enough change for a decent DVD player.

Thats just one example of getting way better value than that harmon kardon package.

Ive had some decent entry level amps from harmon kardon , they were good enough , but regardless of maker I would stay away from those all in one packages , they are not as good as they look.
