Does anyone play the flop differently and what do you do on the River.

6 Handed: I'd have a solid enough image, maybe slightly Loose and aggressive but nothing too maniacal, although I think my stats on this table were about 30/26/(infinity) over about 30 hands or so. He was on 2 of my tables and I'd think he'd have me around 24/18 or so... I was playing really tight on other table.

At this stage I didn't have much of a read except that I didn't see him do anything stupid so I presume he's solid enough. He was on about 2 of my tables but I didn't check if he was playing any more tables, but I'd think he probably was:

So what do people like on the River and how much do you bet if you bet:

    Folded to SB
Seat 5: Villain ($207.25 in chips)
    Seat 6: Ste05 ($205.10 in chips)
    Villain: Post SB $1.00
    Ste05: Post BB $2.00
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to Ste05 [Jc 7d]
    Villain: Call $1.00
    Ste05: Check
    *** FLOP *** [8h 7h Jh] POT: $4
    Villain: Bet $4.00
    Ste05: Call $4.00
    *** TURN *** [2s] POT: $12
    Villain: Check
    Ste05: Bet $8.00
    Villain: Call $8.00
    *** RIVER *** [5d] POT: $28
    Villain: Check
    Ste05???

Apologies if this is an obvious hand, but I haven't been able to play much lately and I thought it was semi interesting as I was making my decision.

He missed his flush = Insta Shovaroonies

Edit, actually in the situation I'd min-bet to see where ya stand, looks like ya have the hand won though.

yes and its not remotely close

flop call is ok I guess, bet more like $10.50 on the turn

    as played, bet $24

i check, dangerous flop, you could very well be behind, not worth the risk of betting, he might be slow playing, i'd be happy enough to take it down without a bet.

did he insta-call your bet on the turn?

Do people not think 24 or 22 is too much?? I know the bet decision isn't close, I was more interested in the amount to bet. [EDIT: I bet $18 but just looking at the pot size again, actually 22 or 24 would have been better probably...]

Also on the flop I didn't want to raise because I don't think I could stand a push/ re-raise and along with a flush/ set I think the Ah and possibly Kh could push, it's just a situation I didn't want to put myself into.

And on the turn again I thought a bigger bet would look too strong and not allow me to value bet the River again extracting more money. So I was hoping to make the turn bet look weak so I could extract more on the River (if he called the turn) I would have had some respect for this guys game and would have thought a pot turn bet followed by a decent River bet would only be called by a better hand (set, etc.)

I prefer to raise the turn. He's more likely to make a mistake and put more money in as an 80% dog. If he calls you can check behind on the river whatever happens.

edit: i'm an idiot and I see he checked the turn and you bet. As Valor said, may as well bet as much as you think you can get away with. I value bet river... about 20 or so.

ok push is a bit silly - but only as silly as asking what to do if he min-raises!!

    CRAI - Fold

    Min CR - Instacall

CR upto 50 or 60 call and expect to see Ah enough to be profitable.

I would fold to any raise on the river without a read
