For some reason i just can't see it happening. They like to take channels away without replacing them. Surley they can afford to splash a bit of cash for some cheap entertaining channels. We're about 10 years behind everyone else.

I know that recently there was a documentary made about the summer "rock camp" in Artane for what looks like being a new community channel on NTL coming to our screens in the autumn. At first I assumed it would be for the City Channel but it seems it's actually going to be a UPC/NTL/Chorus channel.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

Haven't heard anything. After pretty much closing down all their own channels (NTL's Link and Chorus' Chorus Sports Channel) actually setting one up would seem out of character. You never know though...

Yeah it seemed very odd to me too - it's really not the trend these days for cable companies to start local channels - but the kids being filmed for the documentary were definitely told that it was for an NTL local channel to be broadcast in the autumn. Near FM was mentioned as being involved.

Do UPC have local channels in other countries?

They might launch a channel at the same time as their rebranding.

I think LFC tv- the liverpool football club channel will be starting in September but will be in a package with Setanta sports.
