Episode 1 last Thursday. My God Amanda Peet looks gorgeous! Great first episode.

Anyone know why the show didn't get a 2nd series? Political moves in Hollywood maybe?

Eh, what's with the conspiracy theory? Poor ratings killed it - same as what kill every other show. It didn't do nearly well enough given how expensive it was.

As it stands, I was very underwhelmed by what I saw of the show (about nine episodes or so), and perhaps I wasn't the only one and that might be why it never took off in the first place (there's a number of threads elsewhere on this forum as to the problems with the show itself).

I hadn`t watched Studio 60 because of I had heard it wasn`t great, but I finally watched it last week because it was starting on More 4. I really liked it. I thought it was a great first episode and I`m looking forward to the rest. I suppose the moral of the story is to make up your own mind about things!

Seems a shame that it got cancelled if the first episode is anything to go by.

The problem with the show was that it did start very promising but unfortunately after five/six/seven eps they didn't know where to take it.

Story lines turned really bad and you could see the plot a mile away. I really liked it to begin with, but it turned into hard work watching it. Every character had a ballsy, argumentative attitude and away too many words going from person to person with no substance.

    It simply wasn't funny.

ah... perhaps my enthusiasm for Studio 60 will deplete as I watch more.

Very good summation about some of the reasons why I felt that it didn't work. Indeed, after watching this, I was left thinking "What the hell is the big deal about Aaron Sorkin?"

Then I decided to watch "The West Wing". I'm watching one episode a night and now I know what the big deal about Aaron Sorkin is. He's capable of great stuff but "Studio 60.." wasn't it.

I think the biggest problem is that in some ways The West Wing allowed Sorkin to talk about the things he wanted to in ways that Studio 60 just wouldn't allow, but he tried anyway and it failed.

Yes agreed but it did eventually recover. The final four episodes of the season are very good. Too late, unfortunately for everyone.

A combination of massive expectations, pretty unsympathetic characters, a lack of direction and the absence of a genuine reason for watching it did for it.

I personally enjoyed watching it, faults and all, but I can fully appreciate why it was not going to get a second season.

    .
Ironically, of the show's biggest problems was that it spent so much time and energy lecturing it's viewers on what the big deal with Aaron Sorkin was.

Just try to ignore the canned laughter in the first season...

2nd night was decent I thought, if not as dramatic as ep. 1
