Incase anyone is living in the UK or going to be visiting soon, many Jessops stores are closing down and have 40-70% off loads of stuff. Two things I got were a Sigma 170-500mm £263.99 and a Tokina 100mm macro £180, these are £500ish and £300 ish online so I am really pleased.

Just thought I'd let people know...

The Dublin store is for the chop according to the list posted by Amateur Photographer, so there may be some (relative) bargains to be had there. Of the northern stores, I'm not sure beyond the fact that the Derry store wasn't on the list.

was in there today, slrs at good prices, the lenses etc. maybe not so much, hopefully closer to the end of september they'll drop a bit

but if anyones looking for darkroom stuff, paper, tanks etc there all half price in there at the minute

The only time I have ever bought anything from them wwas when I got my Sigma 10-20mm through a friend that worked there. I wouldn't buy anything else from them.
I had an hour to kill, and went into a shop in Belfast pretending to be a keen amateur. The ****e that was told to me was enough to put them off me.
Etc, "f/5.6 would suit you for action photography." "ISO doesn't mean that much for DSLRs".

Do they have dev stuff in the dublin one?

I have memories of being told that only L lenses will work with a 5D or 1D, and that I'd have to buy them off the same Jessops, so they'd retain the same callibration. I couldn't hold the laughter any longer.

Julie, they have a bit of dev gear down the back, possibly more upstairs. Expect them to get offended if they tell you there's more upstairs & you expect them to go up and get it.

"120 film? Yeah, we have some upstairs."

"Oh really? What speed is it?"

"Conns is just around the corner you know? They have some 120 too I'm sure"

Somehow, I feel this is partly my fault.. The guilt is going to eat me alive :D

Whne Jessops first opened in Grafton St they thought they were still in the UK. They had a catalogue that was completely priced in sterling, and mobile phone offers that applied to UK networks. Any company that is so clueless about where they are isn't going to thrive or survive.

was past there today - they've some good deals; the D80 kit seems to be running in at €150-200 cheaper than elsewhere in dublin. D40 kit for €540.
