I've been trying to join for about 2 weeks now,
I've been ringing the reserves hq in Galway and every time,
I’m told to call back at a different time,
or else they connect me to a another line which no one seems to answer,
is there any easier way of doing this,
or will I have to as I expect have to keep calling,

Ring (01) 8042000 and ask for the 'Director of Reserves Forces' office in Clonmel.

If you know someone in the reserves that would be the best option. Get them to bring you along on a parade night.

If you don't know someone then I'd advise you to just turn up at the barracks at half seven on Tuesday night...even the Gate Policeman will have more info than those phone numbers.

I think one of the Boardsies in this forum is in the Reserve in Galway?

The DF is notoriously lazy when it comes to phone calls and it doesn't surprise me in the least that you're having difficulty. Peak hours for them phone numbers would be between 0900 and 1200 on a weekday

shur the cadre staff don,t give too ****s because they have an easy job to do and can come and go as they please, you,d be best off just arriving when ever there,s a parade night

All RDF units are either on camp or have finished for the summer. Try again in September.

Exactly, most RDF units are 'on holiday' till September

Ring whatever barracks they are in direct, eg. at the switch ask if there is any cadre staff there.

But the lads are right, camps are on now this month and next and the majority of support weapons courses and the odd NCO's course is on, so very busy.

If you wait till the end of aug , early sept should be time enough.
