    Hi Lads,
Just wondering if people new what the best PS3 deal was in Ireland? Probably going to get one tomorrow and was just wondering where to get it, I know komplett is probably the cheapest but with postage it's probably not that much cheaper. Also is there a better package deal available with a remote or the cable or something?
Someone was saying as well that I should wait until August? Any reason why?
    Thanks
    Gary

I got the console, 2 games (Resistance & Motorstorm), 2 Blurays, Extra Controller in HMV for €629

HMV have the best deal, PS3 + Resistance FoM + Motorstorm + extra six axis + Black Hawk Down (BRDVD) + Casino Royal (BRDVD) for €629.

The reason to wait until now is because of the price drop which for us means extra stuff for the same price.

When all the 60Gb PS3s are gone they will start selling the 80Gb PS3 for €629 by itself.

There is no way your going to beat that, most places just give you the 2 exta games and six axis. HMV go the extra mile for once, its usually Smyths that have the best deals.

Cool, that sounds good so, well apart from the motorstorm wouldnt mind something else instead of that one? And when you say wait have I waited long enough, I mean that price drop has happened ya?

Yes it has happened. Its the same price but you get more for it. You cannot choose which games you get in the deal in HMV, they have to be the two above.

With komplett you get a few choices but no BRDVDs in their deals.

With regard to the 80gb one that'll come out in a while...couldn't you just get an external harddrive if you wanted to? And who'll even use the 60gb's anyway?

I believe Virgin has a good one. Something like THREE games from a choice of seven?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭kman

was in Virgin Dundrum earlier today, the offer is the extra controller and choose from any three games.

I may be mistaken but I think I saw the ps3 in gamestop today, 2 games and extra wireless controller for €599.99

the 80gb is only to improve supply i can't remember the last time i saw any hdd under 60gb , but the new standard deal getting more than the older one as well as 80gb us is getting 100 price drop and then the 80 will be set to that price alone for them we just get a deal instead

Those deals are quite temping. Especially with a 10% student discount. I think im gonna try hold off until the pads with rumble come out.

I thought there was a limit to how much a product can be using the discount e.g. I asked about an ipod and they said it was too dear to get a discount

By the time the rumble pds come out the deal may well be over. The deal ends in two months or when all stock of 60Gb PS3s are gone.

Once the 80Gb PS3 comes out its back to square one.

Plus there is no point in having a rumble pad if the games don't support rumble eg. every current PS3 game out now. If or unless the current games get patched later?

Im not sure and I could well be wrong but I don't know if developers would be
able to patch games that are already out. I think that when they do come out with rumble it will be like what happened when they introduced it with the PS1. Just supporting it in future releases.

Id say come christmas time there will be all sorts of deals like the ones above.

So you think the 60gb deals will be finished in about 2months?
I just paid for a holiday, so im gonna need about a month to save up.

Well in the US I know the deal is time limited, but they got a price cut instead of the deal we got.

XtraVision have it in small print that once they are out of stock the deal is over.

The 2 month thing is just a guess on my part, it could last a bit longer.

But the way I see this deal is that it's Sony's way of clearing all 60Gb stock and standardising the PS3 at 80Gb in all regions.

Even though you can add a 500Gb or whatever internal drive into a PS3 if you want to.

As far as I know HMV don't let you use your student card for console hardware, just the games - but I maybe wrong

Ya got the deal in HMV, reckon probably the best, you can pick two out of six games and any two movies!

Anyone know the best deal for the remote?

thought PS3 used 2.5" hard drives, as to which to current highest capacity drive is 300gigs?

i may be completely wrong though.

just a quick question can i avail of student discount and use a voucher for €50 at the same time in HMV, could be a cheaper PS3 for me?

No you're right. It takes a 2.5" SATA.

cool, i'm gonna buy a ps3 and stick in my macbook 160gig sata when my 250gig hard drive comes for my macbook.

definitely going to go with that HMV deal as with the 10% off - for being a poor student - and if i can use the voucher in conjunction with the student discount that's 113 euros off.

I think there are some terms and conditions there saying that you can't use the student discount on hardware of any kind: game consoles, ipods etc. Only DVDs and music.

I picked a PS3 in Virgin in Cork last Sat for 629euros.
I got 3 games with it and an xtra controller with it.
    I had a choice from 6 games.
I picked Ridge Racer 7,F1, and Resistance:Fall of man.
    A very good deal.

just read through all the posts. People are saying the deal is over when the 60gb is sold out then the 80gb ps3 will be 630euro on its own. I thought the 80gb ps3 was only for America and japan, china etc. I havnt read that its coming to Europe, the site i normall read is very up to date on the ps3 news. There is talk/rumour that they might do a 120gb for europe but I wouldnt expect that anytime soon.
AmI wrong about the80gb coming to Europe??
