Before I go to the doctor was wondering if anyone knows of something I can get from the chemist for warts ? Over the last 6 months about 5 have sprung up on my fingers and I want to get rid of them asap!

I have tried a plaster with some cotton wool dipped in cider vinegar and it does work really well but they always come back.

Anyone know of something I can get from the chemist ?

Go ask your chemist they will be able to recamend an over the counter solution to you, it is part of thier service.

I once had that same problem, never had a wart before and loads of them spread on my hands in a few weeks. Went to see an old woman who had the cure for warts. 3 days later they were gone. True story.

Was it APPLE cider vinegar you were using?

The best cure for warts, and this is coming from a wart specialist who is a good friend of my mum's is just to cover them in a small piece of duck tape, replacing it every day or so for a few weeks.

    They'll be gone before long.

Same thing happened me. Had them for years then before I decided to get rid of them.............. what worked for me was a slug.. find a slug and rub the slug into the warts. Then place the slug on a thorn and as the slug dies so too do the warts!!!! Seriously this works

That was more aimed at the slug one. But duct tape? hehe it has its uses but removing warts isnt one of its primaries.

You need some form of SALICYLIC ACID, I used Compound W Liquid and its available from most pharmacies over the counter, think it was only about €8....pop some on the wart, let it dry, then put a plaster over it, 24hours later rub the wart with a pumice stone, then repeat for about a week.

I had about 6 when I was 16. Never had them before that and never had them since. My method of removal was sandpaper. Hurt like a son of a b***h but got rid of them. Had to get down to the root of each one, then tape it up and hope for the best. Think I worked on two at a time and got rid of them in a few weeks.

I did something similar myself. It's probably not advisable though.

Tried getting them frozen, but no luck, and it hurt like hell. Never had them since anyways. Go to the doctor OP, if it dosn't work the first time, there'll surely be some other trick up the doctors sleeve.

What DID she do to you??? Kiss them better?

Poor Mantaraver was never the same.

OP have you not seen the ads on TV, you dont even need to see a doc anymore, you can freeze them off yourself.

Forget about all the over the counter remedies. Ring around a few GPs to see if they freeze off warts. When you go to one he'll have what looks like a little metal can that's plugged into the wall, he dips a big cotton bud onto it and then presses is against the wart. Hurts like hell, then the patch of skin turns white, then back to red. You end up with a big ugly blister for a couple of days and then it heals up. I had about 3 or 4 warts, he got rid of all of them, except with one of them there was an ugly red scar left, but the scar disappeared about 6 months later. They haven't returned since, that was about a year ago.

I used tea-tree oil and it worked a treat. You need to dilute it a bit becuase it can burn you like dettol otherwise.

Yep, dead serious about it. I don't know how it does it but the specialist said it pretty much blows the OTC remedies out of the water

Don't go to your doctor there is no need. I had one on my hand and I bought a product called Wartner in the chemist. It freezes off the wart, doesn't hurt and it heals very quickly. With compound W you have to use it for ages wheraes with this you only need to do it once.

They are caused by a virus so they may well return.

I saw in a magazine once a remedy which involved placing a piece of banana skin wet side down over the wart (secured with a plaster) overnight. Cobblers, I thought to myself but tried it on the sly.

To my astonishment it worked. On subsequent investigation, it appears there is something quite like salycylic acid in banana skins, so durn it, it's not such a mystery anymore.

Easier get them iced off I think.

Another vote for the duct tape method from me. It works a treat.
