i have been informed that a panel goes in the lg after about 18 months, this requires another panel to be replaced as well total 700 lids, lg have now subsudised this it is 400 lids, seems a lot after coughing out big bucks sometime earlier.

They had them in the Dunnes in Kilnamanagh and in the Square Tallaght over the weekend. There was no display model though.. Just the boxes out on the shop floor. Also noticed a 42" Philips plasma for just under 1000€ in the Square Dunnes..

Rubbish firstly it costs alot more then 700 for a 50' screen to be replaced also any small claims court in the land would laugh at that and award you the full price you paid for the tv theres no way in hell they would get away with that. Sure lg and philps are the same panels if that was the case all the philips ones would have the same fault. Bit of scaremongering there from either a salesman who doesnt stock lg so is trying to put you off or somebody who just paid twice the price for a Sony and is trying to justify it to himself.

Good price for that tv the picture is very good on that model if i was in the market for a 50' id snap that up

Does anyone have a model number for the 42" Philips plasma being sold in Dunnes?

To answer my own question - it's a 42 PF5521D/10, which gets some terrible reviews online. Pity.
