Was getting Sky+ "installed" (read delivered, theres two feeds there for it) today - got the conf letter yesterday. The telephone number was wrong on the letter, so I call them to correct it.

The guy at the other end can't correct it for some reason so gives me the number to call Finlay, the contractors for my area.

So I call them this morning - job cancelled. At the time I was talking to the Sky guy.

Call Sky this morning, get offered a reschedule to TUESDAY - I've taken a day off work for this and it was THEIR screwup. Wouldn't get me a supervisor to talk to.

Result: Sky+ cancelled and I've implied I'm leaving the standard service too.

Same thing happened to me... My job was originally supposed to take place last Wednesday, sky screwed something up and it was put to Thursday. No installer arrived on Thursday, I rang and they said "oh yeah, that job is now put to Friday". This was after I took the afternoon off from work to meet the installer. Friday, the installer didn't come at the agreed time and when I got home I found a 'sorry we missed you' calling card. Fuming. Rang sky to get another date for an install, I was given the following Friday. Demanded to speak to a supervisor and the guy I was talking to suddenly got very bitchy with me. Outlined why I wanted to speak to supervisor and he got just plain ignorant. Nothing to do with him, I just wanted to rant to someone in a position of authority. Told the call centre guy that if I didn't have an installer at my house before friday I'd cancel my subscription. He didn't give a toss. Even more fuming..

Rang the Dublin number for the contractors on Monday morning and they had an installer around the following afternoon. Moral of the story; go directly to the people who know their arses from their elbows. The sky call centre staff certainly don't.

I went to the installers but as the job order was cancelled by Sky, they weren't going to get paid if they did it for me...

Oh well, back to the Topfield it is for me.

Moral of the story, go to an independant.

Just got a call from the Finlay installer saying he'll be out here around 4.

Note that I cancelled the order.

He's checking with his office to see what can be done as goes reactivating it, as I'll take an install today if its there.

I have taken two half days off work to get sky installed and they simply didnt show. They didnt ring either. So I rang sky to complain and cancel my HD. Im now going with an independent. Finlay are totally useless.

Well, I never got to see if they are, in my case the uselessness was Sky.

    Have you reordered?

No. I'm going to see what price I can get it from an independent first. The box, that is...
