    Hi all,
im looking to get a new practice amp, i already have a "fender princeton 112 plus",
i dont really need a new one but i want one in anyway, you know how it is ;)

i have a budget of about 280 euro and i will more than likely be ordering from www.thomann.de
i already have all the effects i will ever need and i have a boss me-50 pedal board, so built in effects are not needed and since its only a practice amp it doesnt need to be able to deafen the neighbors.
i play all types of music but i really enjoy classic rock .

what do you think of the amps with amp modeling built in ?
any recommendations from that site would be really helpful .
    thanks ;)

For a practice amp, I think something like the Roland Microcube or Vox DA5.

I use a Microcube myself, and think it's fantastic. I brought to a practice session the other week and it easily kept up with a 120w Behringer amp, and the cube wasn't even turned up very high at all. Small but mighty. ;)

    Thanks Karl,
The roland micro cube looks very interesting and very promising, i'll keep my eye out for one on ebay .So now it looks like im getting 2 amps :)
i'll get the cube and another amp for 280.
so if you had 280 to send on thomann, what would it be and why ?

I'd probably save the 280 untill I had enough for a decent tube amp. But it all really depends on what you want another amp for.

Just out of curiosity how much does a "decent" tube amp cost ?
i was looking at the following amp http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_champion_600.htm

or should i keep my money and wait to get something like this
    http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_blues_junior.htm

By the way thanks for your help Karl.

I think a lot of those little low wattage tube amps are a gimmick, so I wouldn't really bother with them.

"Decent" really depends on a lot of things. Mainly your style, or what you need from an amp in reguards to channels and such. So you'd really need to help me out here before I could make any recommendations.

well my style would be classic rock songs. no shredding or heavy metal .
i have a lot of effects for example my boss ME-50, and a few other pedals.
so i would be looking for a nice clean channel, although i dont want to deafen anyone. i do want the amp to make its presence felt.
do you think i should get more money together ? i think 400 is the most i would spend on an amp .

this is the guitar i have by the way http://waltons.ie/waltonsshop/product_info.php?cPath=60_65&products_id=10231

Alrighty so, I'd say the Fender Blues Junior should be ok, but the biggest piece of advice I could give is to try one before you buy it. Make 100% sure it's capable of doing what you want, and that it sounds good to your ears.

Golden rule; trust your ears. ;)
