Thought I read somewhere that I could use half my minutes abroad. On the 3 site it says €1.19 make and €0.99 receive. The link "using my phone abroad" says nothing, just goes to an explanation of a typical bill.

I think it is that you can use half of your minutes to phone the UK. Although I am told that this is not enforced and you can use 100% to the UK. Not sure if you have free 3 to 3 calls whether this includes UK 3 mobiles.

Thought it was too good to be true.

There are several threads on this already, have a look at them. As I understand it roaming on 3 networks abroad is free, on other networks it isn't free, although it will be now be much cheaper as a consequence of the new EU tariffs.

You can use half your allowance for calling the uk. There are no roaming charges on any 3 network so those charges are out of bundle, he you have mins/text left im your bundle they come out me that

If your conneced to a Three network abroard then it's pretty much the same as if you were here, main problem is the lack of many Three networks anywhere else though. UK/ Ireland/ Italy/ Australia and a couple of others I cannot remember.

Think that was dropped when they introduced the new relax tariffs.

no its still place for both existing and new customers. I have even gone over the allowance and not been billed any extra so im not sure how strictly they police it, but its definatly still there.

Are you sure. I sold a couple of contract phones to these two English people that came back in giving out to me a week later, saying when they phoned people in the UK from Ireland they were charged outside of their price plan.

I think there is some confusion between making international calls and roaming. From my experience, using my 3 phone in the Uk, it was a "3 like home " experience. I.e. I was able to phone, text, receive calls and surf the internet just as if I was at home and it was all included in my normal monthly plan.

However this doesn't cover making international calls and especially to a non-3 network.

I understand the difference between roaming and making international calls. You can use your phone in the uk at no extra charge provided your roaming on 3UK but you can also use 50% of your inclusive minutes to call the UK. from Ireland
